#13 Chuck Berry School Day (Ring! Ring! Goes The Bell) (1957) - TopicsExpress

#13 Chuck Berry School Day (Ring! Ring! Goes The Bell) (1957) Johnny B. Goode was the first Chuck Berry 45 I had (might have been my moms). I think it must have given me a concussion because my head has never been the same. That intro...that Chuck Berry guitar sound, is still my favorite guitar sound. From Keith Richards to Angus Young to King Kahn, if you play like that, if you got some Chuck in yer soul, you got me. Sorry, Son House, but I like that monkey junk. My next Chuck records I got from my dad, his from when he was a kid: Maybellene, Sweet Little Sixteen, No Particular Place To Go & School Day. Obviously I could relate to School. Who couldnt? It was universal. There wasnt a day that went by that it didnt cross my mind. When I was in junior high, there was a convenience store down the street, and I would go in there before and after school to play pinball. They had the radio on one of the local album-rock stations. One morning, as if they were trying to tell me and the other kids that were there that it was time to get to class, they played the song. Its a memory I could never forget, hearing it while looking down at the pinball machine. If only it was coming out of a jukebox, it would have been perfect. Another thing I love about it is the fact that Chuck dont play no rhythm on it. Its all lead and he rips on it. Also, its the only cover tune AC/DC has ever released. Happy Birthday (yesterday) to the maestro, Chuck Berry!!!
