13 years ago and it still feels like yesterday. Although I was lucky enough to not loose any family members in the attacks on our country, myself and every other American were directly effected. I will forever remember turning on the news that morning and witnessing the horrible events unfold. I remember picking my daughter up from school early, concerned for my familys safety and the heavy heart for all who were lost. The strange silence of the sky because all flights were grounded. You never realize how much air traffic you hear as background noise until its gone. I remember feeling personally attacked, first as a native New Yorker, then as an American, and as a human being. Those who attack the innocent for ANY ideology, religious, political, or otherwise are the pinnacle of evil and hate. To know this wasnt a random act, knowing this was a planned and calculated attack of Mankind still weighs heavy on the heart and mind. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the fallen and the ones left behind, the true heroes who sacrificed their own lives to save who they could. Their shinning example of human compassion and selflessness is what should NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.
