(14) MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A man on the Eastern Panhandles Most Wanted List has been tracked down and arrested. Elan Bell-Veney, 28, was wanted for the stabbing of five people at the Shipwrecked bar in Martinsburg on June 27. He also violated his federal probation for having a firearm with an obliterated serial number. A U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force found him hiding out in an apartment on Benning Road in Northeast, Washington D.C. With both the U.S. Marshall Service and the Berkeley County Sheriffs Department on the case, it was discovered that Bell-Veney had fled West Virginia and was receiving help from both family and friends in the region to stay on the run. After information was uncovered that Bell-Veney was in Washington, D.C., the task force located him and took him into custody without incident. Bell-Veney was convicted of killing an innocent bystander in a botched robbery in 2008 in the parking lot of the Brick House Bar and Grill in Martinsburg. He was sentenced to six years in prison. He was released from federal prison in May of this year. Authorities will take Bell-Veney back to West Virginia to face charges of being a fugitive, in addition to the previous charges against him.
