14th November 2014 : A very busy day today up at the Helensville Railway Museum . Today we had a keen model railroader come to visit us . Kenneth bought with him some wooden farm gates to be added to the layout . He also bought up some of his model trains up to show us and have a run around on the layout . The trains were controlled from a digital controller which allows the locomotives to come alive .The digital controller allows all sorts of operation of the trains. One of the things it controlled was sound effects from the locomotives and also let more than one locomotive run on one track . Thank you Kenneth for showing us what digital controllers can do to place another aspect to the model railway world. We also had a couple from Germany visit today . They were travelling around New Zealand and are very impressed with the hospitality received from Kiwi folk . They enjoyed the Railway Museum and then went to have a look around the Station Complex and have a lunch at the Ginger Crunch Station Café. Thanks also goes to meeting Tanya one of our facebook members . She bought her kids in to enjoy looking around. The kids enjoyed using the green and red flags to make the model trains either stop or start at the station. Sandy was kept busy with controlling the trains. Also the kids helped operate the railway tablet machines. Then photos were taken of the kids in the ticket booth -with guards hat on - to remind them of the fun they had.
