15 years ago my wish finally came true and I got a girl cousin. She couldnt do very much at first, but I was excited to not be surrounded by boys. In a few years, she was playing with purses and make-up (at a point in time when I denied ever owning barbies) I was devastated. Whats the point of a girl cousin if shes not at all like me?! Now shes a teenager, and we can actually get along. Instead of intentionally losing at checkers, I can have real conversations with her. She turned out pretty cool. Weve met somewhere in the middle - fangirling over cute nerdy boys, and kicking your butt if you disagree. I get makeup advice from her; shell call for help with homework and boys. I cant wait for what the next few years will bring. Shell have to explain the newest social media, while Ill get to help decorate her first apartment. It may have taken too long for her to arrive, but I know Im very lucky to have her in my life. So wishing my cousin Jordan a very happy birthday.
