15th August: The work on the paths and bed edges started on the 5th as scheduled. The construction of the new pillars and the repair of the wall started on the 8th of August. To date the following work has been completed • All the pea gravel has been removed and the foundations for the kerbs dug. • The new kerb edges on all the surrounding beds have been put in place. • The path through the Memorial garden has been completed up to the tarmac level. The last section, the epoxy top, has still to be scheduled. The work has straightened and slightly widened the path. • The Balmullo red chips have been spread around the Monument. • The new stone pillars on the south path have been erected and uncovered. • The undamaged old cope stones have all been relocated so they all lie together. The new cope stones have been placed next to the new pillars and grouped together. All we have to do is wait 15 years for the new stone to age to match the existing stone. • The front and back of the wall have been re-pointed where required. I have posted images of the work on Flickr, to view please follow the link below flickr/photos/ghstewart/sets/72157635143366662/
