17.28 The mist is descending on Les Sables dOlonne... Yann Elies still leads the Solo Maitre Coq fleet, although Thierry Chabagny and Jéremie Beyou have done their best to close on his overwhelming lead this morning. In the British camp, Henry Bomby Sailing is still going strong in 16th. The leading Brit, Henry has sailed a good first race of the season, turning it around from 33rd last night to top half of the fleet today. The same cant be said for Sam Goodchild in TEAM PLYMOUTH, who made a tactical decision to sail inshore at Ile du Yeu with the reverse consequences of moving him from the top half to the bottom half of the field. Rather than speculate we will wait until Sam returns to dock to hear his appraisal of the race and his thoughts on its outcome. This is the right environment to make these decisions as on the Vendee Globe tactics play a major role over a much longer period of time.
