17 years ago i went to dj in tokyo for the first time. It was my first time to the far east and it was for a show - dj krush vs dj cam vs me. this was our first musical meeting. this was before low end theory, before flying lotus, before dubstep before mobile phones, before we even used the internet.... there was another dj out who was influential then - dj shadow. but for me, krush was always more my shit . shadow was like experimental jazz and very noodely whereas krush was straight boom box, raw beats with different abstract sounds. mcs could dig it and so could djs scratch to it... that was the days of headz as they called it. the first 3 mo wax albums opened my eyes.... then krush did a label mix for ninjatune. like a megamix of all of the labels back catalogue - kold krush cuts and of the mix, of the 90 minutes or so, he chose about 40 minutes of my music. i was like holy shit....! wow. so wen i arrived in tokyo in 97, there was literally hundreds upon hundreds of ppl wanting my autograph. simply cos krush had used so much of my music in that mix. arigato Krush. the real beat scene sensei. the godfather of beat making...! on saturday 4th jan, myself , dj cam and the sensei will play at the beautiful camden koko in London. this is a remix krush did for me in 1997!!!! youtube/watch?v=hwiXKg8LtTw
