173 NAVY COMMANDOS DEPLOYED IN GUJRAT GOAST.... Gandhinagar: Days after an explosive-laden boat from Pakistan carrying suspected terrorists exploded after it was intercepted and chased by the officials of the Coast Guard, security across the coastal regions of Gujarat has been tightened, reports said on Monday. According to reports, at least 173 marine commandos have been deployed at 20 police stations along the coastal areas to foil any attempt by the Pakistan-operated terrorist outfits to create unrest in India. Confirming the development, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) BJ Ninama of the Marine Police said, “After the incident of Pakistani boats being chased by Coast Guard in Indian waters, we have ordered 173 of our trained marine commandos to take positions at 20 marine police stations situated on state coastline. These commandos have been ordered to heighten vigil across the coastline and monitor each and every boat going into the sea and returning ashore. Apart from vehicles, these commandos have ben provided boats to patrol the sea near the shore. The commandos have been asked to work in close coordination with the Coast Guard and the Gujarat Police in case they find any suspicious boat in the sea. According to reports, the Pakistani boat that exploded on New Years eve was tracked after a conversation from Karachi about delivering a huge consignment to India was intercepted by the intelligence agencies. We are investigating, the area is under surveillance and we are trying to recover something from it, havent found anything yet, Coast Guard IG Kuldeep Singh said. The Pakistani boat exploded 365 kms off Porbandar coast on the intervening night of December 31 and January 1 after it was intercepted by the Coast Guard and chased by them. Coast Guard had spotted 4 people on board and warned the boat to stop. But instead it picked up speed and tried to escape. Before the security officials could seize the boat, it was set on fire by its occupants leading to explosions after which it finally sank. The incident brought the maritime threats faced by India to the fore yet again. All the four people on board the boat are believed to have died in the explosion and subsequent sinking of the vessel. #priyo
