19 years ago today, Val Castor and I intercepted a complex of storms ,moving south from Kansas, in far northwest Oklahoma, initially getting a peak gust of 53mph. We tried to stay ahead of the storms, but were overun at Cherokee, after dark. We set up shop just east of town, where we were slammed with measured 70mph winds. Saw several power flashes in town and when things died down, we came into town, where we found some minor wind damge, mainly tree limbs down as well as a large dumpster which was blown into the middle of the road.
