1977 was the year that I started collecting Barry soundtracks. It was also the year that I started going to see films just because they had Barry music. The Deep is an example of this. Fairly ordinary film but wonderful music. Frustratingly, it took more than thirty years for the soundtrack to get a full and decent release. Heres the original music from the opening credits. A great example of how brilliant Barry is at creating musical landscapes for wide open spaces (his trademark is of course the plains of Africa - Born Free, Zulu, Out of Africa), in this case the beauty of the ocean.
