1992 Lollapalooza. Someone gets smart and realizes that Exhibition - TopicsExpress

1992 Lollapalooza. Someone gets smart and realizes that Exhibition Stadium is not a good venue for an outdoor concert festival. But then moves it to Molson Park in Barrie. Great. Now the only problem is how to get to Barrie to see this thing? (I hope this is the right story for this lollapalooza...) I had my drivers license at the time and my father had an 80s hyundai pony (which if anyone remembers is a ridiculously small hatchback). I ask to borrow the car to go but I neglect to tell him that 6 people are going to be in the car, including Brandon who was like 6ft tall and the size of a wrestler. We cram him into the back. Ama was there for sure. The rest gets lost to bad memory Raul help here?). We get onto the 401 all stoked about going and I suddenly realize I need to squeeze into the exit lane to get onto the 400 where there is already a huge lineup formed. I get too anxious and smash into the car in front trying to squeeze in. The car behind hits us and suddenly its a multi-car nightmare. Luckily, no one was seriously hurt. However, the pony doesnt fare so well and is totalled. Fast forward through some collision-related chaos and the pony gets towed to a service station near Yorkdale I think and lollapalooza 92 looks like its over before it even begins. My dad was not happy (he would bring up this accident for many years after any time I asked to drive his car). I believe Amas mom drives everyone up to Barrie in her station wagon. Does anyone from this trip remember if this is accurate? FB people help?
