1st to 5th July 2013 1st July 2013 “Therefore, do not worry, saying ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or “What will we wear?’ For it is the Gentiles who strive for all these things; and indeed your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But strive first for the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” Matthew 6:31-33 “What will I ……..” is a thought that plagues all of us from time to time! Some of my work is on a tight schedule and often generates worry. How do I stop worrying? I think faith does not mean being totally rid of anxious moments, our feelings are the best part of us and they will always be there. If I have faith, and I trust Jesus, and my worry is not destroying me, I think it’s okay. I think when my worry destroys me, disrupts family life, destroys my health, then I become like a pagan. Do you agree? Jesus knows what we face, in spite of our worry let us hold on to His hand in faith. 2nd July 2013 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep” John 10:10-11 Constant negative feelings and thoughts open the door for Satan. Fear is one of the most powerful negative feelings we can experience, and through fear satan destroys us, our families, and disrupts every area of our life. God is constantly calling us to His side, He is never far from us, yet we are unable to hear Him, because the voices of fear and anxiety, the voices of anger and pride are constantly speaking to us, discouraging us, depressing us. Satan is a thief, he does all he can to shake our faith in Jesus. Once our faith has been shaken, he can easily steal our joy too. Listen to Jesus saying “I came that you may have life, and have it abundantly”. 3rd July 2013 “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.” Jer. 31:3 No matter how sinful we are, God’s love will never be taken away from us, it will continue to be everlasting, faithful and steadfast. God who has everything we want and who loves us is always faithful. Let us today, reflect deeply on how much God loves us often in spite of no response from us. How much He longs to give us everything He has. Let us in humility thank God for His continual love for us, let us strive to remember how much He wants to give us everything He has. Let us pray for the grace to respond to God’s love. 4th July 2013 Then Jesus said to him, "Get up! Pick up your mat and walk." At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked. John 5:8-9 Let us bring our cares to Jesus, our illness, insecurity, pain and future plans. The more we open our heart and speak to Jesus about everything that is bothering us, the better we will feel. He knows it already, but He wants us to speak to Him anyway. For almost 3 weeks I experienced a great interruption in my daily routine. I was sleepy all the time, pray and work was difficult. I put it down to insufficient sleep. One day in utter frustration I Jesus what the problem was? He revealed it was my shallow breathing, I was getting insufficient oxygen! When we think we know all the answers, He does not interrupt our lives, but when we admit we do not know, He guides us. He healed me! He will do the same for you too! 5th July 2013 Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go! It will be done just as you believed it would." And his servant was healed at that very hour. Mathew 8:13 Is there trouble in your home? Trouble at your place of work? Are you (or a loved one) suffering? Whatever the need let us ask Jesus to meet it. We are so used to living with pain and suffering of all kinds, and often we have been encouraged to accept it as “from the Lord.” Jesus came to heal, not to bring suffering and pain. Let us bring our suffering to Jesus today, He wants to heal us, He wants to bring health and joy into our lives, He wants us to have a good life. Speak to Him like a child and have faith that He came to heal, and that He can and will heal you! And it will be done!
