2-3 years ago I was walking the sidewalk along a popular street and I saw someone who struck me. They had an unusual quality about them; they left a lasting impression just as they passed. I think it might have been the honesty in their smile and the fact that their gaze appeared to be in perpetual wonderment of the world around them. Once they were out of sight I realized that they were the kind of person that I need in my life. I loved them instantly and not in any sort of romantic way, it was definitely a siblingly love. For a little while i asked people if they knew who they were but all I had was a vague description for them to go on. As time passed their image became less tangible but the impression they left didnt diminish in the slightest. A few months ago I made a friend who personified all of those qualities and every conversation Ive had with them has taught me so much about myself. Theyre the type of friend that can make you feel at one with the cosmos when you speak with them. Im very thankful to have them in my life. Just now I realized that my new friend IS the actual same person from the sidewalk that day. Life is strange.
