2 Corinthians 12:9; “My grace is all you need. My power works - TopicsExpress

2 Corinthians 12:9; “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.” Contrary to popular belief, Scripture tells us that God may allow hardship in the life of a Christian. Paul, who writes this verse to the church in Corinth, tells of his experience where, so that Paul would not be filled with pride, God allowed adversity “a thorn in the flesh” (2 Corinthians 12:7) into his life to keep him humble and usable in God’s kingdom. Let me ask you a question which I would appreciate you responding too in your journal within the context of this verse; “Where (think of a specific time or situation), in your own life, has God shown up in power”? What was going on in your life at that time? Were you, perhaps, in a place where you felt broken, lost, alone, and weak? I don’t know about you, but in my life, specifically within a ministry perspective, it was in times like these that I found God rising up in power and strength to provide, protect, prepare, and defend in abundance. Here’s the key though, our natural instinct is to try and “fight the war” on our own, and that doesn’t amaze God – he is not surprised. So what he does is waits for us to realise how powerless we are without him. And here is what I want to leave with you today, when you have finally reached the end of your tether, when your plans and attempts have failed and you raise your hands in surrender to the sky, that is when he is finally able to act without anyone mistaking his victories for your own self-effort. God loves to fill weak and powerless vessels with his divine strength. My prayer is that you choose to present your weakness to God, and let him fill it with his strength. Listen, you and I might well have far more deserts than lush gardens, and, guess what, God welcomes that, and fills those areas with himself bringing life there. May you determine to fully, utterly, and completely depend on God and watch what he will do in your situation.
