2 DVDs that arrived from Malaysia on Friday. Tom Yum Goong 2 was non-stop action start to finish but basically had zero storyline. They telegraphed why his elephant would be kidnapped from the minute we are reintroduced to Sgt Mark so they rest of the film is just waiting to get him back. Along the way we do get the pleasure of seeing Jeeja Yanin fighting with, then alongside, Tony Jaa, but she wasnt given much chance to act at all. In fact, there is very little dialogue throughout. Because it was designed to be 3D, watching it in 2D ruined the special effects, which came off seriously cheesy. The fighting has some cool moments, especially watching Tony fight Number 2 (Marrese Crump), but they should have left RZA home. I would have thought that Asian cinema would have hung up the notion of having rappers in their movies right after Jet Li and DMX made Romeo Must Die but apparently they havent learned that most rappers cant act. All in all, Dude, Wheres My Elephant 2 was a pretty big disappointment.
