2 trappers are trapping down on a street in Mattapan that has quite a few cats and kittens that Fred feeds everyday. This is the same street and almost same exact spot that started my cat rescue back in 1986. Every day for over a year I fed so many cats there. I did not know about TNR back then. I caught the cats with a cat carrier. The friendly ones I took and tried to find homes for. My house was filled with kittens that were covered in fleas leaving my house filled with fleas. It was a lot harder back then with no traps, no spay clinics, no decent flea treatments and no help from anyone. But somehow I managed to get out most of the cats. I even kept one pregnant one and her kittens. The poor mother got out and hit by a car. That broke my heart. I kept all her kittens and never loved cats as much as I did them. They all lived long healthy lives for 15 to 17 years. They have been gone for awhile now but I still miss them. The sad part about this is, here we are so many years later and the street is full again with homeless cats and kittens. This is why I am screaming all the time, TNR is not the solution without Education. People need to be told STOP abandoning your cats. We need more info going out to people about low cost spays and if you own a cat it has to be fixed. The big org hated me because I keep saying they are not doing enough to help. Well I do not have the resources to hand out, mail or post signs informing people. And if I could, where would I tell them to go to get their pet fixed for cheap money or free?
