2008 study researches the link between major depression and leaky gut (intestinal permeability). The results show that intestinal mucosal dysfunction characterized by an increased translocation of gram-negative bacteria (leaky gut) plays a role in the inflammatory pathophysiology of depression. It is suggested that patients with MDD should be checked for leaky gut... When was the last time your healthcare provider checked your health history and symptoms (in addition to symptoms of depression) for leaky gut/intestinal permeability?! Or do they just hand over a prescription for an anti-depressant? Oftentimes, this even follows a course of antibiotics which causes leaky gut. Its one big vicious cycle when it comes to pharmaceuticals! Keep in mind that depression is NOT a diagnosis, it is a SYMPTOM. A symptom of something else going on. Get to the root and you will get the cure. REF: Neuro Endocrinol Lett. 2008 Feb;29(1):117-24.
