2014 - such a roller coaster year for us. One year ago, Rick was in the midst of radiation treatment and fighting to regain all that he had lost following surgery and two months in the hospital. After radiation was complete, right before we made the first trip to Duke, local doctors told us his MRI showed clear progression of the tumor, and that there was no way it could be pseudo progression. At Duke when his doctor said she was certain it was pseudo progression and that it was a good thing, we found hope. And through the first half of the year, Rick made great progress in all areas, even returning to work at the end of May. Then came July and a strange spot on the MRI. By August we knew it was growing again. We tried a couple of things including a clinical trial, but nothing slowed it down. At the beginning of November Rick started on a new treatment and within 10 days he was better. he continues to improve and were hopeful again, especially with the addition of a promising hypothyroid protocol. We have been up and we have been down, but we have treasured every day and our love for each other has grown. we have learned to tell people we love them when we do and to live each day. We hope 2015 brings continued improvement and continued progress in the research searching for a cure of this disease. and we hope each of you has a great 2015. Live, laugh, and love each day and live so you have no regrets! Happy New Year!
