Join us at the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Museum for a special day of events honoring the historical French influences on the Nations Oldest Port! 9:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. - Traditional Wooden Boatbuilding. Be more than a visitor as you and our artisans build a boat from centuries gone by. 1:00 P.M.- 4:00 P.M. - See the Light! Talk to Kathleen McCormick, our leading expert in lighthouse preservation and restoration about her years of dedication to the service of keeping the light shining in towers across the country. Learn about the intricacy and science behind the work of Augustin Fresnel. 3:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. - Wines of France. Sample select wines from France and enjoy a taste of the culture that first colonized the Southeast. Sponsored by PRP Wines of Jacksonville. 3:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. - Meet and Greet the Archaeologists. Meet the maritime archaeologists that are searching for Jean Rebault’s lost fleet. See artifacts from a French shipwreck and learn more about the impact that the French had on Florida’s Historic Coast. Talk with Chuck Meide, Director of the Lighthouse Archaeological Maritime Program and special guest Dr. John de Bry, Director of the Center for Historical Archaeology in Melbourne, Florida.
