2014 Season Recap: Now that the season is over for us we always like to take a chance to rewind and give a seasonal summary. Leaving 2013 Nate had no clue what was lying ahead for him when Jamie and Darrin gave him the news that he would be piloting the Barry Wright limited. I think he still didnt believe it until they told his mom that he couldnt race unless he had a HANS device of some sort. To say it was a long anticipated summer would be an undershot. This boy has talked about racing late models since he was 8 years old. Even though it wasnt a super late model he knew it was as big of step as he could take right now. When April rolled around, money was tight so the late model season got delayed for us but the 4 cylinder was broken out. They ventured to Willard Speedway and resulted in the first win of 2014 season. With the money won that night it provided the 10 gallons of fuel for limited late model an for the next step of Mudcreek Motorsports to start. All the guys talked about was getting seat time this year an learning all things that come with a custom chassis. When they left that Saturday in April it was just car owners and Nate ( I think no one wanted to see him get lapped, as we was used to top finished in the 4-cylinder). When midnight hit all the family couldnt believe the texts they were receiving, THESE GUYS WON IN THEIR FIRST EVER OUTING IN THE LIMITED! I wasnt there, but you can tell by the victory lane picture that this moment was special for all the guys! I think it took them a while to come off that high. Lol The whole season didnt play out like that night though, they had their share of growing pains, winning heat races and then breaking a lift bar on the takeoff of the feature, leading 15 out of 20 laps to have a shock break under caution. But I believe you can overlook those pains when you look at what this team did. They raced 13 times with 3 FEATURE WINS in their rookie season!!!! They also had 7 top 5 and 9 top tens! The rest of those nights were DNFs. This routed them to a 3rd place finish at Willard Speedway in the points championship and a 2nd place finish at 191 Speedway in their points championship! To be around late models for one year I think thats some pretty great stats for Mudcreek Motorsports! The guys are already in the garage working towards 2015 so if this year is any indicator it should be fun to watch them grow!!
