2014 has been quite a year for my little family. In January( on the 20th), Sandy quit smoking! Something I thought hed never do...but he DID! Willpower is strong but love is stronger! Hes almost made it an entire year and you can bet we are celebrating that day! Ive always been proud of him for his honesty and integrity and really just for who he is...but to stop something that is so much a part of you...well Im just extra proud...for so many reasons...but mostly the obvious one...I want him with me FOREVER! Happy New Year Sandy! Looking forward to celebrating many more with you. Oh and he has a milestone BIRTHDAY in 2015...more about that later. In May (the 30th to be exact), our lives changed as Devin was diagnosed with Crohns Disease. To know your baby has a chronic disease, any disease, makes you look at EVERYTHING differently! Suddenly whats important is time spent together. You reflect on how good health is such a gift. Nurses, doctors, pharmacies, medicines and the like become the link to quality of life in a new and more powerful way. We realized that even though Devin is technically grown, as his parents we are still his number one advocates and that NOTHING will stand in the way of that or finding the best care for him. Happily, Devin is doing better. To see him youd never know anything is wrong. He is still a hard worker. Still kind and helpful to all. Still has a messy room( sorry had to add that). Just remember not all illnesses are visible. I know I see things different now. Heres to continued improvement Devin! Know you are loved and cherished! Now please clean your room!! As we readied to celebrate Devins birthday on July 11, we had another wonderful thing to celebrate. Sarah bought her first home! So proud of the beautiful, hardworking young lady she is. Her heart is filled with such kindness and compassion...just like her Nana. She is an amazing teacher and I just marvel when I see her teach. We moved her in on the 12th and it has been fun( well Sandy would probably not say that) to help her decorate and make her house a home! Her Housewarming in November was so much fun. So Happy New Year Sarah! You are the best doggy mommy ever and one day I know you will be an amazing wife and even more amazing mommy to some 2-legged babies( yes I know Lucys front legs are arms, but...well...you know what I mean). Just know you are loved and cherished and make each year memorable! So for me, Ive had the pleasure of being part of all the above. I have had my own happenings too. I finally decided to work...really work toward getting my BSN. I decided that those last two pesky math classes would not defeat me. I worked hard, kicked their collective tails and made an A in both of them!! My sweet family has supported me all the way and endured my obsessive, crazed studying and complaints( especially on the true merits of statistics). I love them so for their unwavering belief that I can do anything! My next chapter starts January 14 as I start my BSN classes at WSSU! Less than 12 months and I will fulfill a goal...a dream..Ive set for myself. Then who knows?? 2015 you have A LOT to live up too but we are all up to the challenge. We have weathered the storms of 2014 and can do anything!!
