2015 Chinese New Year Gala: What celebrities are performing this year? It’s the news you’ve all been waiting for! The second batch of big name stars performing at the annual #SpringFestival #Gala has just been released, and among the headlines are Hong Kong-based pop king #AndyLau, pop singer #ChrisLee (Li Yuchun) and Gem Deng (Deng Ziqi). The list released on Thursday by #CCTV also noted Na Ying, a famous singer in China since the 1980s, will be on stage. Meanwhile, the teen girl population will have something to talk about with former singers of popular Chinese-South Korean boy band EXO, Lu Han and Kris Wu (Wu Yifan), performing along with teen idol William Chan (Chen Weiting). Headliner Chris Lee gained instant fame nationwide after she won the nationwide singing contest Super Girl in 2005, while Gem Deng became a sensation overnight after performing on the Chinese singing show I am a singer-season 2 in 2014. If teen idols aren’t much to your flavor, some old time legends will also be making an appearance, including famous tenor Yang Hongji, and Li Guanxi, along with renowned senior musician Yu Shuzhen. Among the first batch of performers released is Taiwan-based singer-song writer David Tao and Hong Kong singer Karen Mok, along with young Chinese actors Tong Dawei and Zhu Yawen. The annual Gala, dating back to the 1980s, is the most-watched television event in the country, and has been an essential part of the Chinese lunar celebrations for decades. This years event is shaping up to be one of the best yet, with a bunch of A-list performers expecting to show what they got. The program will include singing, dancing, skits, martial arts and opera performances, and will air live on February 18, the eve of lunar Chinese New Year.
