21 Days to Break into the New Season Prayer & Fasting Focus – August 25 – September 14, 2014 from Watchmen Arise International Introduction During the Hebrew month of Elul (which begins at sundown on August 25, 2014), we are setting aside 21 days to prepare ourselves to end the year 5774 well and transition into 5775 ready for the new season. God has set a path before you and has opened new doors (and closed some) throughout this year. We have an opportunity to be part of His covenant plan in the timeline of eternity. Woven throughout the Word there is a progressive plan linking generation to generation and season to season. Those ready and chosen to pick up the Word in their portion of the timeline must do so unencumbered by past hurts, iniquitous patterns, and infirmity. If these issues do exist, it compromises the success of the next portion of the timeline because the one who foreran could not pass the baton successfully. Liken this to a great relay race since the beginning of time; one can see that the Lord passes the baton of Kingdom revelation from generation to generation. Each person who grabs the baton is equally important to win the race. Let us be ready to run our leg of the race! These 21 days are set aside to prepare us to do so. Outline of the Focus Each week we will hold a different focus using Psalm 103:1-5 as the outline to transition out of the old and into the new. Bless the LORD, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. Psalm 103:1-5: The Fast God Has Chosen: Ask the Lord to identify the fast that He has chosen for you. For some it may be food, others TV, social media, etc. Ask Him what He wants from you. Do remember to replace the time spent on these activities with prayer. Read Isaiah 58. Week 1: Focus – Bless the Lord & Forget Not His Benefits! Day 1 – Read and meditate on Psalm 103:1, “Bless the LORD, O my soul; and all that is within me…” Determine to enter into a posture of thanksgiving and worship for the next 21 days. Choose to have “all that is within me” bless the Lord! Day 2 – Make blessing the Lord’s holy name your focus today (Psalm 103:1). Call out His attributes and titles. Let His name resound from your lips throughout the day. He is magnificent, awesome, mighty and powerful! He is healer, salvation and deliverer! Declare who He is to you. Day 3 – Read and meditate on Psalm 103:2, “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.” Praise Him for the benefits He has bestowed upon you this past year. Make a list of the rewards you have received and thank the Lord for them. Day 4 – The root word of benefits has several meanings. One is to wean a child (Strong’s H1580). Where has the Lord caused you to grow up in this past year? Bless the Lord for the opportunity to mature in His Kingdom. Thank Him for taking you through the process. Day 5 – Another meaning of benefits is to ripen. Liken this to the almond tree’s nuts ripening. Bless the LORD for the fruit that has been produced through your life this season. Make known this benefit by thanking Him out loud for what He has done in your life. Day 6 – Thank the Lord for His ever increasing Kingdom and your part in it. Offer gratitude to Him for including you in His plan. Meditate on Jeremiah 29:10-14 and how God used Jeremiah to reveal His plan in the midst of captivity. Acknowledge that God’s plans are greater than ours. Day 7 – Ask the Lord to reveal any places within you that are not operating in a place of submission to the Lord. Is “all that is within me” blessing His name? Let Him search your heart today.
