21 hours and many tears later, heres my race recap. It was a PR alright but not the good kind. It was the longest (time wise) race Ive ever had. 7:08. Not the race I had hoped for. Not the weather I had hope for. Not a lot of things. But it also WAS a lot of things: an opportunity to share an epic experience with friends (Christina Underwood, Laura Donnellon Bagley Kathy Lewis). A chance to train and race with my amazing friend and athlete Angie Spallas. You made me proud girl. A chance to push my body and mind past their previous limits. I was in good company. I have never seen so many racers struggling. We kept the local EMTs very busy. I proud that I finished. Doing so meant I have to overcome lots of physical and mental demons who wanted me to give up. I have never cried during a race before yesterday when I broke down several times. I am seriously doubting my full ironman dreams. But I still have those dreams. Trying to focus on the positives.
