22 Nov 2014 - Today was filled with great joy on my rounds at the temples, but ended with a heavy heart when we learned during our last visit to deliver food to Wat Hua Fai that sweet boy A-lan had been poisoned about 3-4 days ago. I was shocked by the news as this temple is surrounded by only forest and rice fields. All the rice fields have been plowed so it is not the poisoning season. The monks were as shocked and mystified as we were. A-lan was not a chicken chaser and he was also sterilized so would not be hanging out at a home with a female in heat. Oh, what happened to you. I will miss his adolescent mischief. He was just about 1-year old and had all the energy and naughtiness that came with the age. Just last Saturday I had to bathe him 2 times because every time I finished he would go back and roll in a dead animal again. We will miss him - the temple does not seem the same without him. RIP A-lan.
