22 years ago I moved to Vegas. Since then I have seen the 2nd most totalitarian, suppressive police force in America turn into the most. I do not say this because I am anti-government or anti-police. I say that based on facts. Of all the cities in America Las Vegas now, and for the past few years, writes the most tickets and has the highest arrest rate versus the lowest conviction rate of any city in the US. The jails are overcrowded not because of rising crime rates, but because the system is paid by the Federal government for each arrest and for the short term housing of each person incarcerated. I have been victim of over 30 arrests for such things as selling water, selling nightclub passes, blocking the sidewalk and other such criminal acts. In all those arrests I have 1 "conviction" wherein I plea bargained to get no jail time, no probation on the charge of "conspiracy to obstruct the sidewalk." I went to jail, went to court only to find time and time and time again the Office of the District Attorney would not press charges, so I felt relieved. Now I feel ripped off. I have learned the government (police, jailhouse, judges, prosecutors, clerks, etc. etc.) all get paid off my arrest. I put my life on the back burner so to speak and put in 8,000+ to the study of law so I could combat this corruption because no lawyer would even take the cases to sue for false arrest. Now, 22 years later I am seeking criminal prosecution against 4 patrolmen in one case, 2 in another and 11 in a third. One is in civil litigation already and the other 2 will be set for jury trials in Mid October. What a difference 22 years makes. In one case 4 patrolmen are charged with over 7 felonies and a total of 34 crimes. Land of the free? No, home of the BRAVE. My mother always said you cant fight city hall. I have learned the problem is you cannot hire attorneys to fight city hall for you, you must do it yourself.
