23-08-2014 Gospel of the Day Matthew 13 44. The kingdom of Heaven is like treasure hidden in a field which someone has found; he hides it again, goes off in his joy, sells everything he owns and buys the field. 45. Again, the kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls; 46. when he finds one of great value he goes and sells everything he owns and buys it. Commentary on the Gospel RADICAL DECISION The relationship of a disciple with United should be exclusive. In your life, nothing can present as a competitor of that Kingdom, as this takes precedence at all, should be the reference point for all the axis of its existence. And all this is explained as the total membership and service to the Kingdom. Jesus likened the radicalism of this option with the gesture of a man, to find a treasure hidden in a field full of joy as he had sold and purchased that field. This discovery led him to resize the value of their properties. The possession of treasure justified dispose of everything else. Another point of comparison was the attitude of a trader of precious pearls to find a great value, decided to dispose of all his property, only to acquire it. Possession Pearl led him to take a turn in your life: all other pearls that had, as well as any other properties, had little value to him. The possession of the precious pearl was enough to make him happy. The same goes for the Kingdom. He is the joy of the disciples, although had to give up what once seemed precious to him. For the kingdom, the disciple is able to take radical decisions. Search and find Our parable is part of the list of the parables of the Kingdom of the thirteenth chapter of Matthew. It ranks among the parables spoken by Jesus to the disciples in private, at home (13,36). Two verbs of motion characterizing the two parables: find (v 44.46.) And look (see 45.). Being a gift, the Kingdom of Heaven requires human effort into it. The two parables have in common the following expression: sells all that he has and buys (vv 44.46.). The difference between them is that in the first parable the man finds the treasure without looking for it; in the second, he seeks the precious pearl. This indicates that the two parables are inseparable and should be treated as complementary. Both the farmer who finds the treasure as the merchant looking for fine pearls experience the same joy. We can take two messages from these two short parables: first, the Kingdom of Heaven is comparable to goods exceeding in value what you can imagine. Whose is the engagement of all life is required. Secondly, the teaching of Jesus is where it hides and reveals the Kingdom of Heaven. Who discovers know such enthusiasm that will be able to leave their old guards (Phil 3,7-11). prayer Lord Jesus, I come undone, with courage and joy, all that prevents me from putting the Kingdom as the center of my life. 2 Corinthians 10 17.
