23 years ago I began labor to deliver my beautiful daughter Mia Ann, she was 3 1/2 weeks late. They induced me and 32 hours later my baby was born.... To our horror the umbilical cord was around her neck 2x, she had a bowel movement while being delivered from the stress and inhaled it causing meconium aspiration & a collapsed lung...she also developed a staph infection in the nursery... It was a very scary time, we really had no clue how sick she actually was. But a new day brings new miracles. Her lung resolved itself with no intervention, her infection was clearing and the entire pediatric staff at hospital were in awe at this little 7lb. 1/2oz. scrawny little girl who fought her way through to wellness. My daughter has never lost that determination to be better, to succeed, to be the best she can be, no matter how difficult the obstacle, she finds a way to overcome it. Tomorrow will be her 23rd birthday, and I am overjoyed and proud to be her Mother. Her kind heart & generous, loving nature is infectious to all who are fortunate enough to call her friend. Happy Birthday to you Mia. Thank you for being such a fighter 23 years ago, because I have enjoyed every single day of being your Mommy. I love you!
