24 June 2014: During peak hours at 07:50 this large bus with a trailer entered our neighborhood illegally. Illegally because it is a 5 ton restricted area, and it used 5 ton restricted roads to get to Engen Bluewater Bay. It also used 5 ton restricted roads to leave Engen Bluewater Bay. Intercape repeatedly breaks the traffic by-laws in this regard. This is however not the worst of it. A young lady was forced off the road as this bus either did not see her or was unable to maneuver properly due to the roads and Engen Bluewater Bay courtyard not being made with the intention of supporting large vehicles. She had to act quickly to avoid a collision. Traumatised by the event, she could not even use the Engen to fill up her vehicle and drove into town to go and fill up there. We are glad it did not turn out worse for her or her vehicle. Her husband went to go and speak to the driver of the bus. He was aggressive and unapologetic. He insists they will carry on to use the Engen Bluewater Bay, even though there is a specialised truck stop meant for big vehicles just 2km away. One of the photos shows a 2l cooldrink being handed to the driver by one of the petrol attendants. Is this perhaps part of the incentive that Engen Bluewater Bays owner gives the drivers to encourage them to break the law? This is just one of the incidents that happens. We know there are many more instances where vehicles and the lives of others are placed at risk. How long will Engen Head Office continue to condone this?
