25 years ago: Dorson Michael was named a Hamilton Good Neighbor this week. The award, sponsored by the City of Hamilton and its Second Century board, recognized the 78-year –old Dorson for his volunteer work in helping maintain the Penney Park and for his willingness to help local people with plumbing and heating problems. Glenn B. Crowther, a former Air Force Captain with family ties to Caldwell County, signed a contract last Friday to serve as executive director of the Caldwell County Medical Aid Corporation. 50 years ago: Tommy Otto and his parents, Mrms. Truman Otto attended the Junior Cattleman’s Market Day last Thursday at St. Joseph. Tom marketed 10 head of steers and was the one chosen from the Hamilton FFA chapter for an all-expense paid trip to be made during the Christmas holidays. John Lee is the instructor of the Hamilton FFA Chapter. Over 250 persons attended the wild game supper Sunday at the Hamilton Elementary School. It was sponsored and served by members of the local Citizens Band Radio Club. There were many varieties of wild game, including possum, beaver, deer, squirrel, rabbit, fish and others. 100 year ago: An effort is being made to purchase a Victrola for the use of the schools. A machine will be of much help to Miss. Tomlinson in her work in the grades and high school. Appreciation of good music through suitable records can be taught to the pupils with a Victrola better than in any other way within our reach. If there are any little folks in Hamilton or vicinity who, for any reason, will not be remembered this Christmas we will be glad to have their names and place of residence and we will see that they are supplied with candy and toys sufficient to make Santa Clause a reality to them. The establishment of the parcel post with its reduced postage rates and increased weight limits has given a wonderful increase in the use of the mails as a means of sending Holiday gifts, That this mail may be handled promptly it is essential that the public cooperate with the postal service. Mail parcels early, they may be marked “ Do not open until Christmas.”
