27 of the twenty nine employees that were retrenched by #Orange Botswana have been absorbed by #Ericcson. Addressing the media in Gaborone last night, the Orange Director of Corporate Affairs, Lepata Mafa said Orange out-sourced its services to Ericson, which is expected to deliver improved network quality service. She noted that part of the agreement was that Ericson would then employ all the employees that were retrenched by Orange Botswana. 27 of the 29 affected employees accepted employment offers from Ericson, while one opted out and the other one was re-employed by Orange for a different position. Earlier, BOFEPUSU Secretary General Tobokani Rari had threatened that the five unions under BOFEPUSO would terminate their contracts with the cellular network company if they go ahead with the retrenchment exercise. Mafa explained however that Orange employees are not unionized, and that is why #BOFEPUSU was not informed about the retrenchment exercise.
