28 DAYS BEFORE DEADLINE! DEADLINE OF SUBMISSION: OCTOBER 15, 2013 The inaugural SalaMindanaw International Film Festival organized by the SOCSKSARGEN Center for Film Arts, Inc. and Mindanao Center for the Moving Image will be held in General Santos City from November 26th to the 30th, 2013. The aim of the Festival is raise awareness and promote international cinema with emphasis on the unique development of cinemas across Mindanao and its Asian neighbors, and to strengthen the nascent film movement in SOCSKSARGEN region. Films are selected on the basis of criteria such as quality and originality of language and expression. REGULATIONS 1. The Festival will present five competitive sections: - Asian full-length films (documentary, narrative, animation or experimental) - Asian short films (documentary, narrative, animation or experimental) - Mindanao short films (only short narratives) - General Santos inter-school film competition -Sarangani Open Film Competition 2. Full-length films must be no less than seventy (70) minutes, while short films must not exceed twenty (20) minutes including credits. 3. All films must have their Mindanao premiere at the Festival. 4. Films not in English must have English subtitles except for those with no dialogue. 5. Interested parties may submit up to three entries. 6. An entry once selected can no longer be withdrawn from the competition by the filmmaker. 7. Due to copyright laws, the music used in the digital entries must be original, licensed, or in the public domain. 8. Members of the Organizing Committee are disqualified from joining the competition. 9. Participating films must not be made before January 2012. The closing date for all entries is October 15th, 2013. After the official selection of a film, the Festival shall be authorized to use excerpts of the film with a maximum of two minutes for promotions. The presenters of invited films in the official selection must send the following by, and no later than, November 1st, 2013: Digital file of three (3) photo stills; Digital file of poster; Digital file (high resolution, .mov, .mp4 or .avi) of the film entry. 11. To ensure the success of the Festival, the Organizing Committee reserves the right to change, amend, modify or repeal any of the foregoing rules and regulations if it is in the highest interest of the Festival.
