2nd Samuel 9:3 The king asked, Is there no one still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show Gods kindness? Ziba answered the king, There is still a son of Jonathan; he is crippled in both feet. After ascending the throne of Israel, king David reminded himself if his commitment to Jonathan in their friendship times. This he did by enquiring about any body associated with his friends household. Two lessons are learnt here. First, it is very important that we appreciate friends & keep our word by them. There are friends that stick closer than brothers. Secondly, lets not be weary in doing good. Jonathan was in a position to exholt himself above David, a mere shepherd. But he consistently gave David the escape route from heinous schemes of king Saul. Thats what friends are for. No act of goodness is ever lost. It will always be to our benefit. The ultimate beneficiary of jonathans kindness to David was Mephibosheth, a cripple. Be kind to someone today, good deeds never go unrewarded. Have a fruitful week.
