2tim 4:2 Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage-- with great patience and careful instruction. Brethren if their is any time in our generation when we should preach the Word more than ever it is now because like the Igbo people of Nigeria will say; the dog has eaten the bone left in its custody . We Christians that are supposed to illuminate and season the world have unfortunately lost our intrinsic values, we have lost our cutting edge and we are leading the people astray. The preaching today I belief should be directed more to the churches particularly to those who shepherd the flock. Their misdemeanors and the magnitude with which they arrogate power to themselves is annoyingly patronizing, their insatiable appetite for material acquisitions and money cast doubts on their preparedness for heaven. Just go round most of our churches today and hear what is being churned out in the name of sermon, go to our prayer meetings and attend our bible study/bible school/ Sunday school etc. If you are truly a man of the Word you can help but begin to wonder what has befallen us. The issues about Christ and his Kingdom have been relegated to the background, our preachers today are positive and motivational talkers who project nothing but self and money while undermining the efficacy of Gods Word. It is all about charisma, paparazzi and self actualization but no character( humility , godliness, meekness ,luv etc.) which is what distinguishes a Christian from an unbeliever. The Lord is watching as this trend is not new like it was in the days of Jeremiah the prophet so it will be with us except we repent today. (Read Jer. 23:9-40). And like the prophet in his time ours, is to sound the warning continuously. It is an imperative for every true believer who is earnestly waiting for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
