The field marshal reminds many Egyptians of their favourite leader, Gamal Abdul Nasser. Despite Nassers downfalls, particularly on some foreign policy fronts, he has remained a symbol for Egyptians of unity. El-Sisi backers want such a unity driven by a powerful charismatic leader, helping overcome almost three years of division and political struggle.
