3-12-14 Grandmas Hands I’m not saying my grandma- who died - TopicsExpress

3-12-14 Grandmas Hands I’m not saying my grandma- who died yesterday of what I think she would describe as “being old”- was better than your grandma. But she was better than most. While she would think that’s a crazy and kinda stupid thing to say- it doesn’t make it any less true. I’d like to say something you hear often in these situations: I can only hope to become the person she was. But in the case of Dorothy Smyntek, saying that doesn’t really cut it. I can’t hope to become the person she was. She was too good. Too selfless. Too strong. I’ll never be that good, or that strong, or that consistently willing to put everyone else before myself. No need for condolences. Really. Yes, I will miss her a lot. But she was ready. She lived a long life. It wasn’t always an easy life, but it was a life filled with love. She was able to meet and spend time with ten great grandchildren. She was accepting of all people from all walks of life. She loved Roger Federer. I was lucky to have had her. If there’s a heaven, she’s there. If there’s no heaven- who cares- she’ll live forever in those who knew her and felt her love.
