# 3 Johnny Cash saved his best for last. The records he made - TopicsExpress

# 3 Johnny Cash saved his best for last. The records he made between 1994 and his death in 2003 are his finest. After Cash died, the record company opened the vaults and even more brilliant tracks became available. Like this, one of the last recordings he made before he died. If You Could Read My Mind is a song by Gordon Lightfoot that before had served as an easy-listening tune for Stresand, later it became a disco-classic (!) by Viola Wills. But Johnny Cash does it best. He was lonely (his wife died one year before him) and very tired. You can hear that, and its very, very tender.
