3 Tips to help you design a better Facebook Contest. Have you tried a Facebook Contest before? But it didn’t meet your expectations? What was the problem? The design? The copy? Or the call-to-actions? Here’s tip #2. If You Want More Likes, Do It Nicely. To attract the right fans you need to offer a relevant prize that has value to your customers. With the revolution of social media and mobile communication being an important tool for brands to connect to people, it seems that many are in favour of smaller prizes in order to have the potential to connect to a larger number of customers. The Dr Pepper Pants or Prizes campaign was a small prize promotion that successfully worked and created huge customer engagement and popularity with thousands of people wearing the pants. This level of customer engagement combined with an instant win strategy created a buzz surrounding the brand. However, planning and thought needs to be very detailed and the prizes won need to be carefully considered, if Dr Pepper were to have standard Dr Pepper merchandise as a prize, it is unlikely it would have created the same results. As smaller prizes result in more people winning, an individual’s chance of winning becomes higher, encouraging more people to participate. However with a larger prize as the main or ‘headline’ prize, there’s the chance that certain prizes could potentially change someone’s life, even if it is only one person. If your contest attracts the right customers as you offer the right prize(s), and you advertise to the right people, then you should want them as fans. Use a like-gate to make them like your Facebook Page. A like-gate is a landing page that hides the content of your contest from non-fans. These people can’t enter your contest till they become fans. Tomorrow: Post so you can promote.
