3 Years on – APC Governors, Afe babalola endorsed Fayemi for 2nd term Nothing seems to excite and electrified Ekiti better than political atmosphere. Since the inception of the 4th Republic, 7 Governors have emerged in 6years leading the fountain of knowledge and now land of honour. Today, Ado Ekiti Ekiti State capital stood agog for the 3rd year celebration of Governor John Kayode Fayemi whose mandate was restored on 15th October but took oath of office 16th of October 2010. Gov Fayemi lined up activities marking the 3years transformation journey started on the 4th of October, flagging and commissioning of roads projects, electrification projects, distribution of ambulances and health care aid boxes to Local Government through the help of Millennium Development Goal (MDG’s) initiatives, renovation of General hospitals, inauguration of Adunni Olayinka Cancer Centre in Ado Ekiti, flagging of water projects, donation of buses to Market women and intervention fund to them as part of Erelu Bisi Fayemi’s empowerment programme. Empowerments of more than 30,000 youths are part of laudable projects and feats achieved by the Governor within three years of his administration. Moreso, the Governor also inaugurated Ekiti Peace Corps consisting of over 800 youth in fulfillment of his electoral promises of ensuring a safe society. In Ado Ekiti, in continuation of his 3years celebration, some APC Governors visited the state to felicitate with the Governor in a “Meet the People Mega Rally” the atmosphere and streets of Ado Ekiti was littered by shred of broom and flags of APC at early hour of 8am while roads were blocked and pedestrians were lurked in traffic congestion as people could not find their way again to Oluyemi Kayode Stadium venue of the proposed Mega rally. Governor Adams Oshiomole and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola led other eminent personalities to over 30,000 capacity filled stadium with rallying members in rousing welcome. Fuji Music Icon Wasiu Ayinde has been on stage tantalizing the audience with inspiring musical performance. Dignitaries at the rally ranges from works of life, Erelu Bisi Fayemi who turn 50 recently, the three senators representing Ekiti North, South and Central, MHR were also represented led by Hon Bimbo Daramola, Otunba Niyi Adebayo first civilian Governor, Prof Modupe Adelabu, Deputy Governor and Bamofin of Yoruba land who is also the founder Afe babalola University was also in attendance. High Chief Jide Awe, Chairman of APC Ekiti State and Alh Ganiu Owolabi Secretary to Ekiti State Government received and welcomed the visitors. Speaking during his official address, Alh Owolabi described the journey of Gov Fayemi’s three years as challenging but the Governor is unwavering, not moved by blemish character of criticism from opposition. He further said, that Fayemi can boast of over 1000 projects within the last one year. Various unions, associations, youths and students were ably represented at the open rally, the Youth delegation was led by Mr Yomi Oso, APC youth leader in Ekiti, Mrs Waye Oso, Iyaloja gbogbo, Adeoye Aribasoye for the students. In his short speech, Are Babalola congratulated Gov Fayemi and Ewi of Ado Ekiti for their inoculate efforts towards the reformation and transformation of Ado Ekiti, turning it to mega city, he described Gov Fayemi as a visionary and focus leader Ekiti can be proud of. “We are witnessing an historic event in Ekiti, every patriotic person must support development and transformation programmes of Fayemi” he concluded. Mrs Funke Owoseni, acknowledged Fayemi”s Gender initiative and balance with the aid of Erelu bisi Fayemi. The EDF foundation provides relevance, class and support for women. Free distribution of food and prompt checks on market women in the state are impeccable feat witnessed. The women folds endorse Kayode Fayemi for second term, she ascribed. Com Adams Oshiomole, Governor of Edo State joined also showers praises on Fayemi. The Governor addressed the people in Yoruba. He said, fayemi to ju awon arugbo (fayemi cater for aged citizens through the social security scheme). I have joined good people of Ekiti State to celebrate class, development; in Fayemi Administration everything is possible. We in Governors Forum appreciate how Fayemi has been coordinating. Kayode Fayemi is reasonable, he knows we cannot succeed in changing Nigeria through demonstration and placards. He resolves to our labour ideological tactics, organizing, consultation and confronting all forces. Fayemi has demonstrated class and leadership; he is my brother and friend. In Katsina, Bauchi, Niger, Osun, Ogun and Lagos are proud of this man. He has dignified his intellectualism, we can only pray and support him through his 8years term. To be continued......
