3 Youths Shoot At Filipino Sales Rep In Failed Armed Robbery Bid Three ‘Tomboys’ Assault Police Officer KUWAIT CITY, July 20: Three youths - a Kuwaiti citizen, a Lebanese and a Jordanian — were arrested for attempting an armed robbery at a well-known shopping center near a highway and shooting a Filipino sales representative on the thigh with an air gun, reports Al-Anba daily. According to security sources, when securitymen received information that three youths fled in a vehicle following a failed armed robbery of a shopping center, securitymen rushed to the location and took down the testimonies of the witnesses. They discovered that one of the suspects shot a Filipino sales representative on the thigh with an air gun when the latter resisted the suspects. After carrying out intensive search operations, securitymen managed to find the suspects’ vehicle and arrested them. They were referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against them. ‘Tomboys’ assault police officer: Three ‘tomboys’ were arrested recently for assaulting a police officer, reports Al-Rai daily. According to sources, the three girls were in a vehicle in Mubarakiya when a police officer demanded the driver to stop and show her drivers’ license. However, she refused and humiliated the police officer, leading to an argument between them. Eventually, the three girls started attacking the police officer. When the Operations Room of the Ministry of Interior received information about the attack, several patrol officers rushed to the location and arrested the three suspects. The injured police officer was referred to the nearest hospital. 4 held for buying stolen cars: Four unidentified youths were arrested recently for buying stolen luxury vehicles, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. According to security sources, Jahra securitymen noticed a number of reckless youths performing stunts at a location in Sulaibiya. While observing the youths, they checked the details of the vehicles and discovered they were stolen. However, before they approached the youths, they noticed four individuals arriving at the location in luxury vehicles and watching the youths. The suspects then offered to purchase the vehicles from the youths even after the latter informed them that the vehicles were stolen. Securitymen immediately arrested the four youths and referred them to the concerned authorities. The daily gave no further details. Crackdowns to continue: Director General of Ahmadi Security Command Major General Ayed Al-Otaibi has stressed the importance of fighting crimes and tracking down criminals to ensure discipline on the roads and maintain security. In a press statement Saturday, Al-Otaibi revealed the ongoing security and traffic crackdowns are being supervised by Assistant Undersecretary for Pubic Security Affairs Major General Muhammad Al-Dosari. He affirmed these crackdowns will continue until the desired objectives are realized. Within the framework of the security campaigns, Al-Otaibi said the Ahmadi Public Security Department has conducted security and traffic crackdowns in various locations, which resulted in the arrest of 252 people who have no identification documents and those whose residency permits had expired. The campaigns also resulted in the confiscation of five vehicles reported to have been used in different criminal activities. Meanwhile, the Security Media Department reiterated calls on citizens and expatriates to cooperate with securitymen. It also advised everyone to always carry their personal identification documents to avoid legal problems. Boiler explodes, man injured: An Asian man sustained head injuries when the boiler inside his accommodation in Jabriya exploded. Securitymen and paramedics were dispatched to the location right after the Operations Room received information on the incident. The rescuers rushed the victim to Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital. A case was registered and investigations are in progress to determine the actual cause of the explosion, although speculations are rife it was due to electric short circuit.
