30 years of Women in QuAC is an event being held by the Lesbian Health Action Group as part of the Queensland AIDS Council’s 30 year anniversary and will take place during September as part of Pride Month. The event will be held at Bam Espresso in West End and will consist of coffee, cakes, and conversation. This informal celebration aims to highlight and acknowledge the historical role and contributions of women within the Queensland AIDS Council. This event is premised on the fact that within Queensland, HIV/AIDS has historically been conceived of as a mens issue, this conception has resulted in the contributions of women to QuAC being somewhat silenced or not fully celebrated. We wish to acknowledge all of the women who either helped establish/support QuAC’s inception, those involved throughout the crisis of the 80s and 90s, and also women still engaged with the organisation. Lastly we want to encourage and support the notion of genuine inclusivity that QuAC is aiming to achieve. There will be an opportunity for speakers and guests to recount their personal histories, memories, and experiences of women within QuAC. https://facebook/events/479045022232849/
