32 rescued while being trafficked to Malaysia OUR CORRESPONDENT COX’S BAZAR, SEPT 24: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested 32 people including one suspected trafficker from Hoykong Check post area under Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar district on September 23. They were allegedly being trafficked to Malaysia through the sea. Source in BGB said that the members of BGB Hoykong check post was checking a bus full of passengers and arrested 32 people, who were going to Teknaf with view to going to Malaysia illegally. At that time, the members of BGB arrested one suspected trafficker, Mohammad Ibrahim. He was the national of Myanmar. Commanding Officer (Acting) of 42 Battalion of BGB Teknaf, Major Safiqur Rahman, confirmed the incident and said that the arrested people are from the district of Narayanganj, Narsingdi , Jinaidhah , Bagora and Jassore 4. Quoting the rescued people, he also said that, they had made an agreement with the traffickers and paid Tk 2,00,000 each for sending them off to Malaysia. The members of BGB handed over the arrested people to Teknaf thana and field a case against Ibrahim and four others with those thana.
