#344 To the Asian nations, I have a dream that one day these nations will rise up and live out the true meaning of their creeds : We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal. I have a dream that one day on the white Altay Mountains, the sons of the islands and the sons of the land will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood. I have a dream that one day the worthy land of Asia, cradle of the most respectable philosophies, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice. I have a dream that my friends will one day live in a world where they will not be judged by their praying to the West nor the darkness of their skin, but their ability to discern right and wrong. I have a dream today! I have a dream that one day down in the Land of the Morning Calm, where an Islander is no man, where a Southerner is being belittled by his brothers -- one day right there and anywhere else all men and women will be able to embrace freely the traditions that they chose for their daughters and sons. I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked place will be made straight ; the glory of Humankind shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together. I have a dream that one day these peoples will stop following the path we have shown them. That they will understand that their history is the key to tolerance and respect. This is what I believe in. And this is the faith that we should study with. And this is the faith that everyone should be able to study with without being the target of hatred. With this faith, we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith, we will be able to transform the jangling discords of these nations into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith, we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to travel together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that the world will be free of fear and ignorance one day.
