$35.8M BUDGET COMMITMENT SECURES BASE HOSPITAL FUTURE A $35.8 Million Commitment in this year’s Budget for the Dubbo Base Hospital Redevelopment secures the future of the project, Nationals Member for Dubbo Troy Grant announced today. “The Hospital redevelopment is a vitally important regional infrastructure investment and the announcement of $35.8M is great news for the Dubbo economy. “It will help keep the redevelopment on track and also provide further job security for contractors engaged in the project,” Mr Grant said. The redevelopment of Dubbo Base Hospital will secure its place as the major rural referral, and acute care hospital in the region. The project with a total capital budget of $79.8M is funded by $72.7M from the NSW Government and a further $7.1M from the Commonwealth’s Health and Hospital Fund. The redevelopment provides a combination of new purpose built infrastructure and refurbishment works for the highest priority clinical services. It involves new operating theatres, day only and extended day only ward for surgical services, inpatient and birthing suite for maternity services an upgraded renal dialysis unit, a specialised clinical sterilisation service and a refurbished main hospital entrance. “The tender for the main works is due to be announced in the coming months with construction works set to commence later in the year.” Mr Grant said NSW Health Minister Jillian Skinner has a been a champion for the cause of improving health facilities in the Dubbo electorate. “Nowhere is this more apparent than in her demonstrated commitment to funding the hospital redevelopment project. As a regular visitor to the hospital, the Minister will be welcomed back with open arms as the project nears its scheduled completion,” Mr Grant said. “The next two years will be among the most exciting in the delivery of improved health services to the Dubbo electorate and the wider region,” “The O’Farrell / Stoner Government is putting important health dollars into regional NSW to ensure citizens west of the Great Divide get their share of the health services they need and deserve.” Said Mr Grant.
