35 years ago tonight, I went fishing with my family at a nearby slough that runs off of the Mississippi River. I used a favorite lure of my dads and got ended up getting it caught on something and snapping my fishing line to lose dads lure. I remember telling him and he was visibly upset with me and that was all. Later that night I remember feeling bummed out cuz I did it and my dad approached me in the upstairs hallway and put is hand on my shoulder and said its ok Dean, it can be replaced some day......and then gave me the greatest hug in the world telling me he loved me. About 3 am the next morning, I awoke to a rumbling upstairs and went upstairs to find my mom on the phone crying....and when I walked in to the living room, I saw my dad on the floor dead of a heart attack. To this day, it has never gotten easy to deal with and it hurts like hell!! My dad was my best fiend. I am not ashamed of him or my mom one little iota... I had lost my BEST friend...please look at the blessings in your life and realize that your parents love you dearly. I was only 14 and yes I feel ripped off but my brother was only 3.....I LOVE U POPS!!!
