37 COMMISSARIES NOT FURLOUGHED!!! While the stores’ American personnel and Statewide DECA employees are still expected to be furloughed for up to 11 days between July 8 and the end of September, 37 overseas commissaries will remain open with local national employees, according to a Defense Commissary Agency news release. Because of international agreements, local workers are exempt from furlough, according to the agency. Also while American personnel are furloughed, the National employees were given raises, by DOD The commissaries that will operate normally throughout the furlough include: • Belgium: Chièvres. • Egypt: Cairo. • Germany: Bamberg, Garmisch, Patch Barracks (Stuttgart), Sembach, Spangdahlem, Vilseck and Vogelweh. • Italy: Aviano, Livorno, NSA Naples, Sigonella and Vicenza. • Japan: Camp Zama, Misawa, Sagamihara Housing, and Yokota. • Okinawa: Camp Foster, Camp Courtney, and Kadena. • Portugal: Lajes Field. • Saudi Arabia: Riyadh. • South Korea: K-16 Air Base, Camp Stanley, Camp Carroll, Hannam Village, Kunsan, Camp Humphreys, Daegu, Chinhae and Osan. • Spain: Rota. • Turkey: Ankara, Incirlik and Izmir. • United Kingdom: Menwith Hill. Also In its release, the agency noted that, “because sequestration is so fluid, DeCA’s plan for this budget-cutting measure is subject to change.”
