The Rail Bus & Tram Union say theyre looking at industrial action unless the half a billion is spent to benefit future generations. The new University campus is going to open near Auckland Street (ie Civic Rail) with only five car parking spaces allocated, they claim that there will be a zero percent private car component of transport to the campus!! In NEWCASTLE? Yeah, sure, no-one drives to the Callaghan Campus... Ever tried to park at Uni? Brad Hazzard, Craig Bauman and Tim Owen say the rail corridor will remain in public ownership - but this does NOT preclude developments on the line. John Robertson says were being short-changed.
