At 4-5-6 Chevy Trucks, all of our sheet metal parts, are put through the following reconditioning process: 1. The best part possible is selected from the donor parts inventory. 2. The part is completely disassembled, including removal of trim, rubber, wear parts, seam sealer, adhesive, glass, mechanical attachments and foreign materials. 3. The part is media-blasted on all surfaces. 4. The part is thoroughly inspected for rust damage, non-factory holes or previous repairs. 5. The part is repaired, as necessary, by cutting out, repairing or replacing the damaged sheet metal with new sheet metal, MIG-welded in place. 6. The welds are top-dressed & back-dressed. Please note, that the part is not ready to go directly to the paint booth. The reconditioned sheet metal parts will require some minor bump-work and some minor skim-work. The reconditioned sheet metal parts are ready to go to the body/paint shop, but they are not ready to go directly to the paint booth. As with any fifty-year-old piece of sheet metal, reconditioned sheet metal parts are not perfect, but they are structurally sound and free of any non-factory features and do not require any welding or rust repair. We are providing prices for the various parts, that typically require rust repair or replacement. A good, used, redeemable 60-62, 63 or 64-66 Chevy or a 60-62, 63 or 64-66 GMC truck cab shell, with a small back window, high transmission hump, good radio opening and a non-A/C dash & firewall, put though the above process, is $2,800.00, picked up at 4-5-6 Chevy Trucks in Kansas City, Kansas. The cab can be secured to a pallet, shrink-wrapped, crated and shipped, via common-carrier, truck freight, in the continental United States, for the additional costs of a pallet, crating materials & transport costs, estimated to be $600.00-$900.00, depending on location, accessibility and lift-gate requirements. The following items, are optional add-ons: 1. Big back window - add $600.00. 2. Low transmission hump - add $200.00. 3. Prep dash & firewall to receive factory-correct A/C components - add $200.00. We photo-document the process of stripping, media-blasting, modifying and repairing the parts. All of our sheet metal is made-to-order, so once 4-5-6 Chevy Trucks receives payment, the order is plugged into the schedule and the reconditioning process is commenced. 4-5-6 Chevy Trucks is currently booked out 6-8 weeks. The process of reconditioning sheet metal may require locating & procurement of the part, if 4-5-6 Chevy Trucks do not have the requested part in our current inventory, at the time the order is placed. Once the item is on-hand, the parts are completely disassembled to a shell, media-blasted, repaired and metal-finished. This process may take up to 2-4 weeks, or more, depending on the workload in the shop. 4-5-6 Chevy Trucks no longer accepts PayPal. We accept check, cashiers check or money order, only.
