(4 photos) I PROMISE--this is the last of the Rosh Hashanah pics. It was a magical beautiful holiday, celebrated California style--outdoors, under the stars after sundown & on the beach, the following day. Plant-based, too--vegan/vegetarian. A picnic lunch, shofar blowing, & tashlich, too. Thats the custom of casting bread crumbs into the sea--to represent ones sins/negative personality traits-or challenges that hold us back. Much gratitude to my son, daughter-in-law, & their neighbor, Allie for hosting the PERFECT (most unique & spiritual) New Year celebration--& to all their neighbors, friends, & colleagues for this wonderful way to start 5775. Thoughts for the New Year: Not everything thats sweet, is good for you. Not everything thats good for you is sweet. And the New Years wish--to be too blessed to be stressed. Every dish at the Rosh Hashanah dinner contained either apples, honey, or pomegranate seeds. And there were prizes for the winners in each category. THE ROSH HASHANAH MENU Drinks: Sangria with applies & honey; Apple Cider with honey & cinnamon, Prosecco with pomegranate seeds, Pomegranate Cosmos Appetizers: Apple & Honey Challah, homemade Pickled Dilly Beans, Pickled Mushrooms & Olives & Flatbread with Brussels Sprouts & Pomegranate Salads & Sides: Loaded Bulgur Salad, Israeli Couscous Salad, Divine Collard Wraps stuffed with slivered veggies, almond butter dressing & topped with tamarind sauce. Main Dishes: Delicata Squash Risotto, & Triple Rice with Dried Fruit, Nuts, & Apple Sage Grilled Sausage. Dessert: Homemade ice cream--Beet, Pomegranate with Chocolate Pomegranate Seeds AND Basil Praline Pine Nut + a fabulous Apple Berry Pomegranate Crumble.
